White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)

The white-tailed deer is one of the most wide spread species currently in modern America. The skin of a deer was highly prized and used as clothing and other items for the Lakota. Deer are good at camouflaging when hiding and can be one with the brush. They disappear like spirits, I have been out with deer in the woods that can slip away unnoticed and unseen. They watch from the woods and listen to everything. The deer can help, it is also a messenger bringing things that can be good or bad. The swiftness and grace of a deer is unmatched in the wilderness.
